We have a number of demonstrations scheduled for the event.
We also have some open times where anyone can set up their equipment or technology of interest to share with others. You do not need to be a participating musician to do this. Any kind of electronic or experimental music related hardware or software is acceptable. We especially hope to see some DIY and circuit bent devices, and other unusual or unique instruments.
Bring a set of headphones or small speakers.
If you are a performer you might also consider setting up here to give people a chance to see up close how you work, your favorite instruments and sounds, etc. (There won't be any chance to do this on stage due to the compressed schedule)

Last year Demos had the ability to have their computer desktop projected on the wall behind them.
Is that going to be available this year too?

Also, is the small gallery where the food was last year?
Is that where the food is this year?
Is there going to be a PA in there?

In other words, what's going to be the available setup for demos?

Can't wait to get there!
Ben

The small gallery is where the food was last year.
This year, the food will be downstairs.
At this point, we have PA systems for the theater, large gallery, and jam room (upstairs). Unless someone volunteers to bring another one, we don't have one for the demo room. People doing demos will need to bring headphones or a small stereo or whatever they need. Or take a chance that someone else will have something they can borrow.
There will be a projector for the seminars, but not in the demo room.

I've heard those before but without the sub. Very impressive! Is it true that you can use them onstage as monitors/mains and not get feedback through a mike?

Yes, it seems to be true, I've only had it for a bit (managed to dent it a little even so) so have used it in a limited way with a mic-- it seems to be able to adjust to the acoustics of a space in a way that is really very interesting.

The reason I went with this system is the clean clean sound and the relative portability vs. relative power. btw, for any kind of electronic with a kick, the sub is not optional Smile

We will actually have four of these at em2006 - Electric Diamond and Kip Rosser are using them (but not available for general use).
It will be a good chance to compare them to a conventional PA.

that's good. I have jammed along with a guy using a B-52 system, it's definitely a different sound quality.

also, not sure if this was clear, I will only be able to be there on Sunday, so that will be when this would be available in the demo area.

I didn't realize that. OK, so we still don't have a sound system for the demo room on Friday and Saturday.

Any more news on a PA in the Demo room? It would be tough to give a demo without sound.

If you need a PA and can't bring one, or if another one doesn't show up, we can set up for a demo in the jam room. Or we can move your demo to Sunday afternoon (there's an open slot).

I can bring a mono PA for the demo room, if that would work.

I will bring my 2-channel Nady power amp and 2 full range speakers for Saturday when I do my demo. I can have them in the small gallery all day.
I'm not sure when I'll arrive on Friday because I'll driving up from Georgia that morning. So, I can't be counted on to make them available for Friday.
I don't perform on Friday night until 11:00pm.
I will use my system in the large gallery on Friday night.

Monkey, I would love to be able to use that system for the Moog demo. Is that possible?
