This is going under the assumption you want to synchronize audio/midi data and not video.
If you are interested in synchronizing a sequencers START, STOP, PAUSE and TEMPO between two computers then you would want to be using MIDI CLOCK. The MIDI protocol sends 24 clock messages (actually "F8" HEX)each second to synchronize one or more instruments to a single master Thus, the master would generate the MIDI clock and the slave would receive this clock. The physical connection traditionally is done over a standard MIDI bussing arrangment.
As for specifically how to do it with those programs, a look at the MIDI settings will quickly tell you as I don't own or use either program.
I hope I help. |

Ummmm........yeah, I know how to use midi sync and know the concepts involved.......just how do you do it with 2 computers? _________________ Apple Mac Pro 3.1 2.88 GHz. Intel Xeon Quad

What's the problem then?
Set one computer to send the MTC out one of it's midi outputs, and set the other computer to receive MTC on one of it's midi inputs. Connect with a MIDI cable.
Sometimes they might both play at exactly the same tempo but don't hit beats at exactly the same time though. Turn on both computer's metronomes and play with the MTC delay setting until the metronomes are perfectly in sync. When I sync my MPC to Ableton I have to set the delay to nearly -30ms for them to be perfectly in sync even though I'm only running at 3ms latency. Just one of those things I guess |

Woops, a bit sensitive there . I had absolutely no intension of insulting your intelligence. Just trying to be helpful, that's all. SMPTE is usually used to synchronized audio and video from multiple camera angles and figured I would point you in the right direction. Maybe I misunderstood your question. |
