Most chorus effects rely on multiphase LFO’s modulating two or more delay lines. Early units like in the Polysix used 3 waves spaced apart by 120Deg. Using 4 delays you can get buy with 2 modulating waves because the second pair can be derived by simple inversion. So if you have A = 0 deg and B = 90 deg then 180 deg = -A and 270 deg = -B.
This holds for all cases where the number of delays is a power of 2. Here is a super chorus which uses 16 delay lines.
It has an unusual feature which is modulation depth modulation. This is because when using triangle LFO waves, the effect is a comb filter and shifting the modulation depth, shifts the notch frequency, see variation 4. Closest thing I’ve heard to real ‘flanging’.
