Recent posts about how expanded and unexpanded G2s handle the perfs posted here got me wondering....

When this "Shade Tree" perf is loaded into an unexpanded G2, how many voices are available in Slot A and Slot B?

This perf was intentionally designed to have 8 voices for Slot A and 4 voices for Slot B, but this apparently will only be the case when loaded into an expanded G2. For Slot A, there are 8 notes played for each loop of the sequencer and the intent was to have each slightly unique voice play once per cycle...

For unexpanded G2s, the intended effect may be best realized by setting the Slot A voice count to 4 (and hopefully, Slot B can still be 4 voices).

By default, I get 4 and 3 voices for A and B respectively. I have to reduce A to 2 before I get the 4th voice in B.

I'm going to have a lot of things to listen to when I finally get an expander. I'll check with the agent tomorrow.

Well - Crap! I still can't predict how many perf voices are allocated for expanded vs. unexpanded G2s. Confused

I'll try again - for this "Shade Tree" perf, the best realization for unexpanded G2s must be to set the Slot A voice count to 4 and Slot B to 2 (even number of voices for each cycle).

Then again people - get the expansion board if at all possible!

Thanks for the report Ian. I think that you will not regret expanding your G2. You sure have posted many excellent perfs built on the unexpanded version, I can hardly wait to see what you can produce with an expanded G2!
