Hmm... I've been so consumed with TTS as an instrument in songs that I forgot it actually had real world applications.
I don't like the sound of the Microsoft version of the iPod. Let me guess: It's going to be uglier, slower, and always demanding "updates." And instead of the blue screen of death, you'll get a high-pitched whine that can't be turned off. Next to the power button will be another single button that combines the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys. You know, to be more efficient. It'll use "normal" batteries unlike the iPod's setup, but it will overheat. A fan will have to be attached on the underside. Microsoft will release the player in the summer to distract people of this fact. The internet access on it will be called "Internet Lite," in which only Microsoft-approved sites can be viewed (MSN for news, etc). Finally, Microsoft will give up on the player when after adding their own TTS feature, the players start randomly imploding on the streets. That's right - imploding. The players will basically fold in on themselves until they become pure wireless data that is sent back to Microsoft, destroying their servers.
I think I'm going to stick with my 64MB Creative Nomad Muvo player that uses one AAA battery a week. |

Right, but they might have have to disguise its evil with some fluffy name like, "Porto-Vista." |

A talking iPod is a very good idea, IMHO. _________________ --Howard

Agreed And I hope we get "Talking Moose" for the iPod too.
For some reason this is reminding me of the "singing dogs" albums of the late 60s. ..Singing?... well it was more like barking but.. _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Part of the problem with the neat personal electronics toys these days is the tiny screens and buttons - especially for people over the age of 40. I wish my Sony HD Minidisk player could talk. The controls are so tiny it is virtually impossible to use. _________________ --Howard

At least the Gameboy came with lots of useful plastic accessories, like the magnifier and the lamp. |
