Can I mod an LFO for both level and rate? |
|
|
I like to add a little pitch and filter LFO with aftertouch but I'd like to increase the speed a bit along with the intensity. It looks like the LFO's only offer one mod source. Is this correct? Or is there a work around?
Thanks! |

modulate the speed via the mod of the lfo,
modulate the intensity at the destination mods, b.e. at the osc and or filter. |

Hmmm.... I only see frequency and resonance as mod destinations in the filter. What am I missing here?
I'm pretty sure I can't do what I am describing unless there is a way to modify two different destinations on the same LFO. Bummer. |

afcourse you only see cutoff and resonance as Destinations for a modulator!
the lfo is the Source.
the frequency /speed of the lfo is modulated by the mod on the lfo, in your case modulated by the aftertouch
the amount /intensity of the lfo effect is modulated/ controlled by the mod of the filter and or oscillators . the effect of the lfo that way can be bigger or smaller by : you first set lfo as modulator source of the filter ( making it control the cutoff or resonance and THEN go to the CROUTE page and make the aftertouch control the mod also ! ( do so by clicking the ribbonbutton)
so the idea behind that is that via croutes you can control/ modulate other modulations, something like one level of modulation upon another./ one ( lfo ) modulates the filter and the other ( croute- aftertouch) modulates the amount of the first modulator ( the lfo)
unfortunately i can't draw it out to you, a signalflow drawing would maybe make it more clearly.
i know it's difficult to get hold of it , but once you get the idea it's really simple and can be used often.
by the way guess it's a good idea to read the manual ( at least twice) completely and also to download the tricks and tips manual and also read that one completely at least once. really opens up a new world maybe.

Ah, cool. Thanks! I didn't know about the croutes menu yet. I've read the manual, but things don't stick until I try them in real life. I've been going through the tips and tracks one at a time and making my own patch with each tip. But it's a slow processes. I just wanted to get this one concept down since I use it so often.
I have several simpler analogs and a Kurzweil K2600 that I know inside out. The Andromeda seems to use the best of both worlds. But the Kurzweil has an huge abundance of modulation sources and destinations, so I'm a bit spoiled. |
