I'm very happy to say that I just received my two Zeroscillators in Dotcom format, built by Cyndustries, and autographed by Cynthia. What can I say but wOw. Talk about a build! Since I just got 'em out of the boxes, installed 'em in a cabinet, and powered 'em up, it's a little too soon for me to give any.... well, anything-. I'd bet that you could go for months and still not discover all of the possibilities.

As soon as I get some stuff recorded, I'll post some links.

Cool

Can't wait for the samples. I was not overly impressed by the samples on their web site, but this oscillator looks very interesting.

Looks like quite a module. The front panel is a work of art! Some samples would be nice if you find time to post. Good luck with them!

Also, you being such a Moog fan, I thought you would be interested in a post in another area. (you probably saw this BUT, I will post the link anyways:

http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-12258.html

I liked the video very much, despite it's amateurish quality, and thought some of the dynamics between the "synth" legends were interesting to watch. Good stories are also told! Dave Smith did a bit too much "soft synth" bashing though which I don't find amusing. I say, if a tool works, use it. In all, a good watch !! Very Happy

BTW- I've just created a "user's group" on Yahoo... for those who have bought, or plan to buy the ZO.

Quite a module it certainly is.

From what I've heard from it, (you can hear mp3's of it from the cyndustries website) it's really something- and in many ways it has the potential alone of putting everything else in one's rack to rest!

I hope someone out there does a DIY version Wink

There is an interesting article here:
http://www.till.com/articles/QuadTrapVCO/

I have no clue if this J. Donald Tillman idea is the same as the Zeroscillator, and if there is any relation at all. But imho this article reads like the theory behind a properly operating fully analog tru-zero oscillator that when built functions very much like the Zeroscillator.

Thats hard! You really ordered it in June? Puhh.

I was really thinking about buying the ZO, but now with the new priece (995$) it is too expensive. I don´t know how Cynthia is counting here prieces but this is such an increase i never saw before. 650$ was the entry, then 750$ after the first run and now 5 month later 995$. Shocked Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

So i can wait till someone other will release onefor less the money

It seems pretty obvious that some of the price increase is Analogue Haven's sales commission. Clearly the $650 price was chosen before the units were actually built. Then $750 was probably revised because the actual cost of building them didn't leave much profit.

It looks to me like the $995 jump is because the re-revised price reflects a real dealer selling them. The dealer surely isn't selling them as a favor for no commission. Most American retail is wholesale + 20%. A manufacturer intending to sell retail and also direct always raises their direct sale prices to be no less than their dealers. Because if they sold their stuff with no sales commission then they would be unfairly competing directly with their dealers defeating the point and if they absorbed the dealer commission by lowering dealer cost then they will have eaten what's likely at least in this case to be more or less their whole profit.

Update 2/14/07: Got it. It's great!
