Broken AN1x..... please help |
|
|
so friday my yamaha an1x worked fine at my buddies house for band practice. i bring it home today, power it up and can't get any sound out of the main outs, and the thing keeps rebooting every six seconds, faster if i try to play any keys. I plug in a set of headphones to the hp jack, and get about a half second of sound, between when the an1x finishes booting up and when it crashes. That half second of sound is pretty much normal, but as it crashes i get some nasty digital bleeps. The more I play around, the longer the time between rebooting gets, and as of right now i get randomly between 15 secs and a minute or two . I still get no sound out of the main outs, and there is a loud hum in the headphone jacks.... the hum is as loud as the signal, which makes it almost useless... everything still works the same, as in the knobs still do there assigned function, patch switching works, menus work fine....
i've only had it for three weeks, and at worst have lightly bumped it once in a while when transporting it to and from band practice. i have noooo idea whats goign on here so any help would be greatly appreciated
-edit-
I turned him off for about half an hour and booted up again, and it put me right back to the state where it crashed as soon as i played a key... complete with the same awful digital noise.

alright im an idiot. i have this lexicon effects unit that's power supply is identical to my an1x's except for the text on the back and the fact that it's got a different voltage/amp output, and i had that hooked up to my an1x. as soon as i can find the original power adapter i'll see if i permanently fucked anythign up.. my fingers are crossed |

I had similiar problem after I bought non-stabilized power supply for my CS1x - it turned on, but after a while it hanged up. It won't harm your synth anyway. |
