G2X 'Teething' Keyboard Problem |
|
|
G2X purchased last Feb. and the keyboard was not levelled after opening the box. The thing is, the problem has got worse and now C6 is below all the other keys. The difference is minimal but noticeable although all the keys respond correctly to pressure.
I sent an email to Clavia about this but I kinda regret not to have gone for a G2 engine instead. The G2X keyboard does feel a bit cheap compared to a Virus TI IMO.
Anybody had this problem before? I can't depart from this baby for possibly fixing the keyboard. |

My G2X seems to have a pretty level set of keys. If you are handy, you might open up the synth and see if there is something causing the problem that you might easily adjust. _________________ --Howard

Thanks Mosc. I'll give it a try. I hope I didn't sound like the one complaining for no reason. I do like the G2 and I can't simply ship it for repairs for the next 4 months due to projects I am working on. It is that good.
Still waiting for an answer from Clavia... |

AFAIK, the G2 keyboard is a semiweighted Fatar TP/9 model. Most manufacturers (except the big three: Korg-Roland-Yamaha) are using Fatar these days. Eg., the Alesis Andromeda, the Moog Voyager, the DSI Evolver all have Fatar keyboards. (The Andromeda has exactly the same as the G2X.)
You can order Fatar keyboards through the german manufacturer Doepfer (www.doepfer.de). They are easy to install -just some screws and plugging the ribbon cable.
The Virus KB/KC/TI keyboard is in a league of its own. |

tim - thanks for the info. I am not really a hands-on type of person and I can't afford to stop using the G2X even if for a few days (repairs and so on). So it's Fatar keyboard...it does feel nice when playing, that's why I was bummed when I first noticed the teething problem.
BTW, I can see there's a bunch of really nice and knowledgeable people in this forum.
Peace. |

I wonder if it could be possible to change the G2 keys with keys of another keyboard (more quality, perhaps more weighted), they seem quite standard. Has anyone tried to change them? Does any controller keyboard out there have a key action similar to the virus keyboard? _________________ Cheers,
