Specific MAX/MSP questions. Subject description: Swing? Skins ? |
|
|
Hi,
Just getting into using MAX at the moment to build a ryhthym generator that will be used to trigger midi samples. I have two questions:
1. Is there any way that i can incorporate some sort of groov or swing into the metro objects, or create some kind of groove patterns for the output?
Preferably i woul like to then be able to modulate this via a MIDI controller.
2. How easy is it to skin a finished patch to something more user friendly and astheticly pleasing? i know i'm getting a bit ahead of myself here but there's no harm in asking.
Thanks

a third question:
How can i send the MIDI outputs of MAX inside my system to the MIDI in of Cubase or a stand alone sampler like NI Battery?
I don't need things spelt out for me but if someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.
Thanks

Read and work through MAX tutorials number:
12, 13, 16 and 19 !!
Then try to create an easy sampleplayer, examples are found in the msp tutorial patches and various online resources.
Creating swing and designing a personal skin is something to worry about after you finished a working patch. Tutorial 19 is all about making patches user friendly!
Good luck. _________________ http://husc-sound.com |

cool man thanks for your help...
i have done some of the earlier tutorials but was too impatient to carry on with them...
i'm using max only at the moment as i have no great need to use msp for what i am doing and i have a time limit on the project so i don't want to spend unnecessary time learning to make a sample player in msp till i need to.
Will keep you posted and let you know how it goes. |

Right:
I've got to this stage:
I have crated a patch that send midi signals to specific midi note on each beat with user variable probability settings... it works pretty well.
Now i would really like to be able to add some groove or swing, i see this as the next logical step... can anyone point me in the right direction?
thanks |
