The rnd button is an editor only thing, it selects a random preset.

When you want to automate the vocoder you'll have assign a controller for all the bands.

Do you know the reason for this?

I mean... you can't assign the rnd button from the vocoder but, you can assign the rnd button from a sequencer! Question

No I don't know really, but it seems to map to the parameters in the patch format. The rnd button for the sequencers has a corresponding parameter in the patch file, the rnd button for the vocoder is not present though in the patch.

Maybe it's a left over from the NM Classic ...There was this story that we could not have a fixed filter bank because it was related to the vocoder and that it was not good enough or something, and maybe Clavia really didn't have the guts to leave the vocoder out and so just plainly copied it. The sequencers were redesigned for the G2.

Something like that, should maybe have stopped typing at "No I don't know", I'm clearly typing nonsense here Very Happy
