Hi Akaie,

The demo software accepts MIDI in; if you use MIDIYoke for example, you can allocate a virtual MIDI port and send MIDI messages through it from your sequencer.
As the demo software outputs to your soundcard, you can easily capture the sound out.

However, as its splashscreen reads, the demo software is not comparable to a real G2; it's monophonic, doesn't include quite a few modules, and can quickly become a cpu hog (as it runs on your machine).
The *real* thing (a G2 engine in my case) is amazing!

thanks. I managed to transfer midi with MIDIYoke but I can not understand
how i am supposed to capture sound so I can process it inside the sequencer.

And yes I can imagine how much better the real thing is. Who knows ,maybe one day I'll get one.

In the demo software, I remember you can set up the audio device you wish to use.
Just set the audio recording device for some audio track in your sequencer (or the overall default audio recording device if your sequencer doesn't support such individual track settings) to the same value as in the demo software, press record and send some MIDI data to the demo software.

Well, if you have a PC, it's not plain & simple to route audio back into your sequencer (cubase?). The Nord Demo doesn't support ReWire, so you have to loopback the audio somehow--

1. Connect a cable up from your outputs to your inputs & record "the old fashioned way"

2. Use VAC (Virtual Audio Cable)...which has a demo for 30 days, or buy it Sad
http://software.muzychenko.net/eng/vac.html

3. If you use a Soundblaster or derivative, you may be able to use the awesome free kX drivers, found here:
http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/

4. Your audio card may provide it's own solution for loopback. One possibility is if you have an SPDIF or ADAT port that's not in use. Connect a cable and loop the output back in...this is like #1 but should return your audio nearly perfectly.

in former times people was copying from one noisy tape machine to the other... if everything goes wrong record the output of your soundcard onto a minidisk or tapedeck and record the take back with your soundcard inputs afterwards.

There are certain software solutions that direct route the output of one application to another within the computer , without needing the soundcard...
But its not so easy to get this working in a lot of cases.
And at least on a mac the demo software is one of the difficult cases.

The demo software is really just to get the feel for the editor and to hear a bit of what you can do with a G2. I don't think Clavia intended or even wanted it to be a useful tool for music production.
I think it would be great used in schools though, teaching synthesis.
I don't think Clavia mind this as the students might buy a real G2 when they graduate. It would also cost the school nothing, as apposed to using a product like Reaktor.

defenetly much more suitable as reaktor for teaching..but you need an osciloscope... reaktor can aplly all necessary visual feedback within itself... i found myself using reaktor as a scope for the demo from time to time Wink

The demo is also great to use when you're away from your hardware, like at work... or at a beach condo to generate subbass tones with a subwoofer pointed at the ceiling to irritate the upstairs neighbors who take raucous baths at 3 a.m. Shocked Laughing
