Hi Everyone,

I have a new evolver here aand I think it may be faulty but I am not sure, maybe someone can help me out.

First of all after a random amount of time the evolver will start outputing very load white noise, the only way to stop this is to power it off. I have seen another post on another site about this being fixable by a sysex patch from DSI, I have emailed them but had no reply. Is this true?

Secondly the unit is very noisy on some of the patches with lots of hiss, is this just a side effect of these patches?

Thirdly when sending sysex messages to the evolver it makes lots of random and loud noises.

Any advise on these issues would be apreciated, should I return it or are these things normal?

Thanks

Andy

Well it is quite easy to get some really terrifying sounds out of the evolver with the modulation options, feedback, output hack and distortion so that part is propably someones patching taste Smile

The other problems sounds more serious tho...

I havent had any problems at all with mine so im afraid cant help you. All i can do i assure you that when you find a working one you will have a lot of fun ahead of you.

Hi Ludvig,

Thanks for your reply.

I have sent another email to DSI if they don't reply by tommorow I will send it back to the shop for replacement.

Its a shame as I am having great fun with it!

Cheers

Hi,

DSI have sent me a sysx file to upgrade to 3.1, this fixes a fault in some new evolvers.

Cheers

I thought the point of the evolver was to make terrifying, hissing, distorted noises! You should buy an access if you want clean... Very Happy

seriously, hope there is nothing wrong with your box. Dave usually gets back to you right away if he thinks it is a problem. He is a good guy.

Hi Andy, I had the same problem with my Evolver, except mine got worse over time and eventually the thing wouldn't work at all half the time. I did have one of the early ones though (#00687). This was fixed with a replacement board. I didn't bother emailing DSI, I just took it back to Musiclab and they sorted it out free of charge.

That's not to say DSI have bad service - one of my knobs fell off at a gig and was lost so and I emailed DSI about getting a replacement. Dave personally replied and sent me 3 spares free of charge (all the way to Australia!)

Hi GUys,

The sysex patch did cure my evolver, It has been perfect since then.

The only problem I have with it is that I want the keyboard version now Smile

Cheers
