Just wanted to say that i have just entered the expansion world!
The installation was very very easy!
Any advices about something specific that i need to take notice concerning the addition of the expansion would be appreciated!

Hello,
as an old Micro and Nord Modular user - and now a prospective G2 Engine buyer - I remeber, the expansion board only expanded the polyphony of the old NM Rack, but I could not make bigger patches.
1. Is it different with the G2 architecture? Can I really make bigger patches?
2. If yes, are there "expanded patches" out there that can only be played on the expanded G2s only?
Thanks,
B. |

Sorry for any confusion I may have caused with my thoughtless remark ... basically the idea of the G2 expansion is the same as for the NM Classic. There are some ways though to integrate patches better through audio buses and MIDI communication.
There are some performances around that can't be used in an unexpanded G2, but all single patches can be used on an unexpanded G2 just as well, except for lower polyphony on the latter of course. _________________ Jan |

Thanks, now it is clear.
Anyway is it a good decision to buy a G2 for sound design (soundlibraries) or should I stay with a complex soft like Reaktor?
I know Nords has that character that is hard to get from anything else..
ps. Do not want flame... |

It's sort of hard to answer that question for you, especially as I can't speak about Reaktor.
I think most people will agree on the neutral remark that a G2 sounds different from a Classic.
IMO it's not easy for some patches to get the Classic's sound on the G2. Otoh the G2 can do things that would just be impossible on the Classic.
It's also fair to say that some people hate the G2 in that they can't stand to listen to it, so I think you should try it before you buy and for that purpose you could make some patches on the G2 emulator software maybe ...
Also there are some G2 recordings present here, when you go to http://electro-music.com/mp3media.php you can select the nord modular forums somewhere near the top right of the screen. _________________ Jan |

Is there more than one person that feels that way? |

Are you referring to the guy that hears a loud overtone in the G2 saw? |
