just got my cgs vco in the mail. BUT i didnt seem to notice that it requires a 1k tempco, NOT the 2k tempco that i have. Anyone know how to get around this problem (could i change some values?) or a good quick source for 1k tempcos?

thanks

Hi Loss,

Go to DJB's EXCELLENT synth site (Dave J Brown) and look at his build notes for the Thomas Henry Mankato VCF. He used a couple Panasonic SMD tempco's that were purchased from Mouser AIRC for VERY little money. These are big (as tiny SMD's go!) and not too hard to solder a wire to each end. A great tempco solution, IMO. FWIW, the Mankato uses 2K , so dave put two in series, which was still less expensive than the least of the competitive choices. You'd need just one.

FWIW, the DJB link is also in the Mankato builds thread in the Thomas Henry portion of this site. (The Panasonic 1K tempco part number has been mentioned elsewhere on e-m, but this is the one I remember.)

And finally, Magic Smoke has been selling the micro-ohm tempco's at really good pricing. I don't remember if they have 1K though.

Kind regards, Randal

Yo,

I also stock the 1k @ www.bridechamber.com , but to use the 2K you have, doubling the value of the summing resistors should work fine (to 200k and 2m), or maybe doubling the 56k... maybe ask Ken about that one. The reverse works for using a 1k w/ MFOS and MagSmoke stuff -- halve the values of the summing resistors there.

Cheers and happy building,
Scott

Scott - nice site and stuff. You might want to strip the comma off the end of your URL - phpbb3 can't parse it properly.

BTW glad you're stocking the Vactrols...

: )
I fixed the comma, thanks!
I didn't realize this forum was from months ago. Whoops!
Well, hopefully you got your 2K to work...

Cheers,
scott

I think it was from yesterday so still relevant!

I always get confused by looking at the join date which was July for our poster.

i will most certainly be ordering some 1k's sometime soon but for now I might just try to compensate for the 2k by changing some values (as i just had ordered 10 2k tempcos)

always glad to see more sites that i can buy synth diy stuff!!!
