I am thinking of best possible ways to copy patches and performances from Nord lead 3 to the G2x. it sound impossible as NL3 has got no USB output. But I do have about 30 performances on NL3 that I would transfer , in some way to G2x in order to make it easier to play live. I have tried to pencil down the parameters and reproduce that way but it seem impossible...
Any inputs?

If I understand you correctly....

The two synths are not patch compatible, nor are their architectures.
You would have to manually program each patch & performance.

Tony knows, but I've been busy porting the NL2 to the G2, in a way for the same reason. Well, I discovered since I have a NL2, why worry Very Happy Play the NL3 for its sounds and performances, also live on stage, I think.

Yes that would be the most reasonable solution of course, but yet if there was a way it would be great. NL3 and G2 are too complete different instruments and it is not possible to create the same patches on them. They have to be recreated which is time wasting and it's probably not possible to make the same characteristic of sound in G2 as in NL3.

What is it about the NL3 that makes it not easy to use in a live performance? I don't have an NL3...

The question is already the answer Laughing Not having a NL3 makes it hard to use it on stage, isn't it? When the NL3 sounds would be available to the G2, then you'll have the sounds, but not the synth...

It sounds like Flying Rabbit has an NL3- but feels it's not easy to use live.

Reasons are a few
1 NL3 keyboard is to short. 2/ I use more than two sounds at same time and use both hands playing and then the keyboard split is not enough. 3/ many times difficult to swap between performances and patches quick and making it sound well at the same time, especially if you play prog and swap sound in average every 8th beat.
Fact is I am looking for a third one. Possibly pedal controlled

Is not the G2 keyboard the same length as the NL3?
(the G2x is not longer in production)

An obvious alternative is to buy a keyboard controller t to play the NL3 via midi. While this costs a lot less than a real G2, you would not have to manually convert the patches, which could take months.

An alternative to the patch conversion issue- is to extend the G2ools patch converter- if you've got a programming background. This converts most of NM patches into G2 patches, some may still need some manual tweaking though. The G2 end of things is working pretty well in this tool, one needs to look into the NL3 patch format though, and see how that might lend itself into a semi-automated patch conversion system.
