...hopefully someone here is able to help me with this problem:

...i bought my G2X in april as new instrument from a reseller - the marks inside show that this machine passed QC in 2006...

...the G2X does not 'boot' normal anymore; the start sequence as of now:

-> powerup - first greeting-screen 'Welcome to...'
-> greeting screen goes away - blank screen
-> after 2-10 minutes(!) - greeting-screen again, this time including the 'Exp' in the second line (Expansion Card recognized)
-> after 3-5 hours(!) - instrument bootup finished, works normal

...this behaviour is repeatable and since i tried to switch programs on the G2X via MIDI from an Ewi-controller; in mid performance the G2X froze and all LEDs went dark. Thereafter it could be reset normal and it booted normal. Two or three powerups later the above stated behaviour began...

...the powerup takes the same time, regardless if the Expansion-board is installed or not...

...i unplugged and replugged all easily accessible (without unscrewing anything) cables from the connectors - no change...

...i re-updated the OS on the G2X - no change...

...i deleted all patches & performances and reloaded them from the newly downloaded ones - no change...

...when the USB-cable is attached and the editor running on the computer, the editor shows two times the message 'Major Error' with no further explanation...

...is there perhaps a way to completely reset the instrument - in case i did something bad to it via the MIDI-commands i sent?...

TIA.

Hmm ... and the pich stick and modwheel then I guess Wink

Sorry to say so ... but this sounds like it needs to be sent to a service center ... one thing you could do again ... check loose cables, if no such thing this would be really hard to guess through the internet ...

Where would one send a G2 to get serviced? Guess it depends on what country you live in yes?

Yes, but Clavia has a list of distributors on their website ( http://www.nordkeyboards.com/main.asp?tm=Distributors ) , you could contact the one for your country, or when there is none ask Clavia.

Sounds to me like the system PLL is not locking, and so it's spitting out a kHz clock, rather than 150MHz. Not that easy to debug without the right equipment, so I'd think Jan is right, have it repaired by a Clavia service center.
