Thinkin' about doing some field recordings and found what looks like a deal on a Tascam digital recorder for $100 at GC:

http://www.guitarcenter.com/TASCAM-DR07-Handheld-Digital-Recorder-105790091-i1435340.gc

Reviews give it good reviews. Say it has some noise (hiss?) on quieter recordings. Anyone know bad or good about this or devices like it?

What do you guys record with?

Jack this looks like a pretty good unit to me. I haven't seen any complaints on the net as I was looking for more info on it. Nice features and Great price right now!!! I dont like the idea of the "hiss" but I guess you wont really know till you try one out. Let us know what you think of it if you buy one... at that price I could a afford a little back up unit.

Anything that will actually record "quiet" things without any noticeable "hiss" is gonna cost a lot more than that. Wink
The biggest question I'd be asking is, can you connect your own balanced, stereo microphones to it?

I just had a look at the specs and it looks great for that price.
