I am building Ray's Ultimate & Ulimate Expander.

A while back I bought this osccilloscope:

Is this sufficient for the calibrating job or do i need one with other / better specs?

If so, what should i be aware of?

It's probably fine for most of what you need it for, and certainly way better than nothing. I'm a fan of cheap old dual channel analog scopes with big screens, but that one will probably serve you well.

For calibrating VCO waveforms and such, high precision is not really needed. Tweak it until you have a nice looking triangle and nice looking sine, the sine is probably best calibrated by ear once it is in the ballpark anyways, if it sounds good, it's good!

For VCO tuning a guitar tuner and your ears are the easiest way, IMO.

regards,

jordan

Sorry for the delay, but thanks for your reply jordroid.

I already ran a few tests and it seems to suit my needs, though i think i'll build a case around it that gives it a little more physical weight.

I'ts so light that i sometimes unintentionally drag it around my workbench....

More later.
