sorry if this has been covered, maybe this falls into the same category as not being able to start/stop the master clock internally? i was playing around this evening with some variations of a drum sequencer patch, by tapping the variation buttons rhythmically with the beat - sort of a 'remix' of the variations. i was wondering if it'd be possible to somehow automate this using maybe a control sequencer sending midi CCs back to the G2 itself? sorry if i'm being vague, this may not be possible. any advice would be greatly appreciated, i think this would be an amazing feature.

Yes this is possible.

CC#70 is hardwired to control the variation. The control range has been split in 8 equal parts of 16, so a value between 0 and 15 selects var 1, between 16 and 31 var 2 etc...
There are quite some noodles and other performances in the patch archive that use this facility. It can be tricky to control the variation from a single patch itself. If the patch changes its own variation the control structure is also a target for change. So letting slot a control slot b is much easier, though not so adventurous.

Hope this helps

thank you Wan, i hadn't loaded many user performances so far. i should be able to find some good examples of how others have used this before. very glad that this doesn't need to be done from an external sequencer.

Mother Misty is a big fan of this, check those drum performances for examples!
