My head hurts. How do I make a quantum patch with my NM-1?
I probably already did, didn´t I?

Quote: | Here's Schrödinger's (theoretical) experiment: We place a living cat into a steel chamber, along with a device containing a vial of hydrocyanic acid. There is, in the chamber, a very small amount of a radioactive substance. If even a single atom of the substance decays during the test period, a relay mechanism will trip a hammer, which will, in turn, break the vial and kill the cat. The observer cannot know whether or not an atom of the substance has decayed, and consequently, cannot know whether the vial has been broken, the hydrocyanic acid released, and the cat killed. Since we cannot know, the cat is both dead and alive according to quantum law, in a superposition of states. |

Ray Kurzweil explains quantum computing in his book, The Age of Spritual Machines. Worth the read. We have mentioned Ray before. Same guy that started the Kurzweil synthesizer company. Relatively smart fellow. _________________ --Howard

Personally I find the many words interpretation of QM substantially less shocking.. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham |

Do you really find your I less confounded to think that you could be both dead and alive at the same time?
Edit: Add:
I mean I think we are well beyond the point where it is possible to believe that this simplistically electromagnetic view of the world that our mind perceives as immediate existence maps in its ultimate reality to anything like the comfortably comprehensible Newtonian model of the 19th century. The true nature of existence is going to be weird whatever it is and it is hard for me to imagine that a grasp of that weird truth would not have some significant consequence for the I. _________________ The question is not whether they can talk or reason, but whether they can suffer. -- Jeremy Bentham |

After reading that article, I got this nagging feeling that there are some danish filmmakers who have been using quantum computing when making porn... well.. faking it.. anyway.. but still..

...hmmmmm, does this lend credence to "positive visualization"? perhaps if (trans-dimentionally) you are the kind of person that thinks good things will happen to you.....perhaps you don't influence your _own_ existence, but your positve thoughts affect you in other worlds...a tendancy to have a positive outlook would create more universes in which good things happen to you (but unless you are 100% positive all the time in all universes, you still have an infinite number of negative universes being created...no?).
ok, my head hurts too. gotta reread "number of the beast" by heinlin.

Sorry you have no control. Makes no difference if you mention it or think of it or not.
And there a many worlds in which the day after receiving my payout I will learn that I have some hideous painful disease from which I will die before I can even begin to enjoy my winnings. If it’s a scenario that is possible in this world it can and will happen. But if along this world line I don’t buy a lottery ticket the number of worlds in which I win is drastically reduced. Though along some world lines I will simply find a winning ticket that you have lost.

Well, I believe all this because I have actually crossed from one world line into another. Maybe twice.
I had a winter coat, one of those puffy parka type things - pretty expensive. I wore it almost every day in the winter. Then one day I put it on and I notice the the zipper thingie the you slide up and down had been smashed. It was made of cheap pot metal. Well, when I hung the coat in the closet the night before that zipper was in perfect condition. It didn't occur to me that I had jumped into another universe. Instead I thought the maybe I accidentally busted it but didn't notice. Just to be sure, I blamed my wife and she claimed to be innocent.
Ok, whatever happened I wore that coat with a busted zipper for several weeks before buying another coat. I left the busted zipper coat in the closet.
About a month later, I stupidly left my new coat in a restaurant in NYC. I felt like a jerk for doing it, but I've done stupider things. The next morning, out of desperation, I got out the old coat and guess what - the zipper wasn't broken. It was not a new one either. It was exactly like it was before it was broken.
My wife and children all swear they didn't get the zipper fixed.
If this is not proof that you can move across universe boundaries, I don't know what is. You don't need no stinkin quantum computer to do first class science. _________________ --Howard

Well, I believe this stuff also because you can actually apply quantum physics to semiconductor design. You use this theory to figure out the Vbe and Betas of transistors and all that sorta thing, It's not just abstract philosophy.
But there is a real spiritual side to it as well, if you care to look at it that way. I mean, if you both win and loose the lottery, are both dead and alive, etc, then the logical conclusion is that even though we are only conscious of one (or in my case 2 or 3) world lines there are an infinite number of them. So we are all one in this, just that we don't experience the oneness, just the separateness.
So, "treat thy neighbor as thyself" really means "thy neighbor is thyself". There are many more implications of quantum theory in the spiritual area, but that's enough for now. Time for bed.

PARALLEL UNIVERSE DISCOVERED
. . . Where Bill Clinton Is A Celibate Priest!
REV. CLINTON considers his body a chaste and holy temple -- in this universe.
Quote: | We watched, astounded, as Dr. Ternet carefully chose latitudes and longitudes on the neighboring Earth -- called Earth B -- and showed us shocking sights:
•Bill Clinton was a celibate priest.
• G e o r g e Bush was a college professor.
•A balding D o n a l d Trump worked as a cashier in a pet shop.
•Paris Hilton ran a soup kitchen in the Third World.
•Britney Spears was a singer.
Among some of the political and cultural differences we saw on Earth B:
•The new Star Wars movie was good.
•Marijuana was legal but coffee was not.
•Iraq was our 51st state.
•Mexico possessed weapons of mass destruction.
•Weekly World News was on every library shelf and quoted on evening news programs. |
