Hi all,

I've been playing around with this idea for a bit and thought I should share it. It starts with a pair of SAW LFOs, one running twice as fast as the other, and both in MONO mode. Then these two signals are sent through lots of different crossfaders that are all controlled by asynchronous sweeps, all of which are in POLY mode. The outputs of these crossfaders (random mixes of the two LFOs) are used to control lots of different aspects of the patch, like filter sweeps, volume EGs, and FM depth.

When you play one note, you get random groupings of eight notes and quarter notes, and when you play dense chords, each note in the chord has it's own behavior (due to the POLY mode of the asynchronous sweep LFOs) so you get all sorts of spontaneous riffs twittering out of the chord.

There is also a random LFO used to slightly alter the relative phase of the two main LFOs, for a little bit of 'slop' in the timing of the eight notes.

I think this idea might work well for some types of percussion patches. More later. Enjoy!

Random Mixes of sync'd saw LFOs controlling lots of parameters, for complex quarter note / eight note behavior when playing dense chords.

This is pretty neat, I can see good things coming out of this one.

Cheers

I got the idea from listening to some music by Robert Rich. I have no idea if this is how he achieves this effect, but yeah, it lends itself to lots of cool musical ideas.
