Hi,

I am currently synthesizing money, footsteps and rain in an abstract way. Now I am looking for any alternative ways to synthesize rain than the lfo>vcf>pink noise way.

I was thinking about focussing on the raindrops themselves, rather than the whole sound of rain. The problem I have with the filtered noise, is that it is simply to dry for rain, I need a wetter type of rain! Gehehe.

I posted this in the NM Classic forum, because I try to do a lot of stuff with my micro. Other more general suggestions are very welcome!

Rob had a trick ... with the vocoder. I think it was connectiong noise to both inputs, not 100% sure anymore.

I will try to take a look at that donnerwetter patch tonight! Thank you..

The 'problem' I have with rain synthesis, is that it is a difficult name to enter in search engines.. Google gave me this:

www.itn.liu.se/~stami/ITNResearch/IntlRprts04/LiTH-ITN-R-2004-03.pdf

Which is way over my head, but very fascinating, gave me some ideas. I don't need to have the option to let it rain on different surfaces, but a little more definition in the raindrops (as described in the article) would be great.

I will continue searching and patching, but more advice is welcome!

(like more info on that vocoder+noise trick!!)

Indeed .. as simple as in image, will do all kinds of rain and thunder sounds. Using two independent noise sources gives more variety.

Hope it's good enogh for you Smile
