wassup, mr spiz is starting to get his musical works together
in congruence with a ressurgence for IZM Records, which
I own/operate.

I'm starting work on a larger album concept that's been
in conceptual form for almost 2 years now. time to open
the casket, right?

IZM Records will be staging a massive compilation effort
surrounding the multiple angles of my different influence
surrounding live DNB/Junglebop/freespazz/jazz breakbeat

for more info, checkout

http://www.myspace.com/spiz

for now, I'm getting the pieces together and then assembling
a large cast of characters to begin chopping away, song by
bloody song. If you have an idea for this comp or you'd like
to be involved in anyway, let me know. I'm open for ideas.

The basic premise is this:::I am a live jungalist drummer
that moved to Chicago to push a sound that's been developing
internationally since the 90's---live drumNbass

I feel that this sound, albeit usually driven by electronic gear,
programming, and effects, has now become, musically speaking,
open for rampage by progressive-minded musicians. In other
words, forward thinking artists now have the technology, knowhow,
and all the recorded dnb/jungle/idm to begin writing a new and
highly contagious vocabulary. As a jazz musician that is
interested in fusing the jazz canon/vocabulary with this new train
of sound, I feel it my civic duty (by civic i mean integrity) to push
this noise i hear in my head, a sound that rages through a room
when unleashed...live drumNbass has the ability, when properly
done, to both elicit either dancing, listening, intellectual thought,
and in my humble opinion...is the next step towards a further
progression in both jazz, improvised music, techno, and whatever
other styles you can imagine (anything fits within the framework
of amen beat...freaking amazing, right!)

Back to the IZM compilation. I will be working with different sets of
musicians for each song on this disc. Each track will be exposing
a different spin/subgenre/style of live techno.

Styles:::
FREESPAZZ (this will be a new SPIZM track or a newly recorded b-side)
w/ pablo pascall-upright

JUNGLEBOP (steps74 track:::by the way, an EP is on the way for this project) w/ brian niebuhr-trumpet & matthew golombisky-upright/electric/fx ISO a well versed jazz/freejazz tenor saxophonist that can holla

IDM/GLITCH (ISO one kickass electric bassists & programmer)
think squarepusher...but FUCK HIM, with live drumz (he's a wanker)

hiphop-jazz-jungle (is there a coined phrase for this yet???)
w/ select hiphop mc's & live band. jazz & hiphop background needed

RAGGA JUNGLE (ISO kickass MCs that are versed in this style
and a dub/ragga bassist-guitarist-programmer/effects artists)

Amen Beat/drumtech:::this sound will have to incorporate several different elements into the batch. I'm thinking numerous laptop artists and live bass

modern jazz breakbeat:::I will use a track by Trioizm off their full length
album, JungleBop...Dark Square or possibly one of our live improvisations from a select show we recorded.

blitzer:::this is a new style i'm working on with a new project with the
members of Inshi. The band doesn't even have a name but the style
pull equally from: IDM/drumNbass, metal, & freespazz improv
watchout!!!
