dynebolic 2.0 Subject description: Improved Linux LiveCD |
|
|
http://dynebolic.org/
Dynebolic 2.0, with new customizations and enhancements for media hacktavists! Built in video and audio streaming, clustering, ALSA, Jack, and the best (IMHO) LiveCD re-spawn there is.
Just download, rip your CD, and reboot! No installation necessary, it runs off the CD. Though other options exist for customization nesting (to Flash card or Harddisk), or installation to HD. Also, you can simply carry around a CDRW, and just spawn back to the CD to save all your settings and work.
And for those interested in Pd (freeware version of MAX/MSP by the same fundamental author), there is this version of dyne, specifically optimized for Pd:

i was real interested in this. it also has supercollider with sclangx (i.e. SCUM gui) built in. but it wouldn't recognize my monitor right or sound.
Demudi had problems with my printer and ethernet.
Suse had same problems.
Only thing that recognized everything plug and play was ubuntu. _________________ All phenomena are atoms in association and dissociation. |

No drivers for it yet in Linux land. I see there's a placeholder for it on the ALSA site (alsa-project.org look under SoundCards, creative, at the bottom), but no drivers available as of yet. I also don't know whether there's support for the microdock (1616 & newer models).
I think it's wait & see at this point. |

correction on my post!
it was puredyne that sucked, and the last dynebolic. I HAVE NOT tried dynebolic 2.0. I am downloading the new dynebolic from june 06 now, and i will let you all know what i think. it looks promising. i am a little tired of ubuntus irregularities in jack; it's a little fiddly. dynebolic 2.0 looks real promising. i hope it works. _________________ All phenomena are atoms in association and dissociation. |

I haven't found very recent drivers included with Dyne. So, it's up to (us) to build these. At least for my laptop (Sony SZ120P) |

Quote: | t was puredyne that sucked, | Yeah I've heard that. I started using Dyne about a week ago. I boots fine on my Windows/Red Hat Laptop but I haven't gotten it to run on my desktop yet, which is odd as it is also a Windows/Red Hat dualboot.
My only annoyance so far is that the GUI for ZynAddSubFX is cramped up which is a bother when trying to program it. Anyone else had that issue? |
