gs -q -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=Output.pdf 1.pdf 2.pdf 3.pdf
I should definitely write a wrapper for that one. _________________ -- Say "&Eth;onne hit wæs hrenig weðer" |

Thanks, Jan.
Doesn't gs require the input files to be postscript? _________________ --Howard

Then how to convert png images to PDF? I scaned everything to png. Then I read the pngs into OpenOffice. OpenOffice combines all of the images into one document writes out PDF with one click. That is the solution I used for this job. Thanks for the gs info and the program. _________________ --Howard

By printing them to a PS printer that redirects to a file giving a PS file as the result. Once set up its not too troublesome.
I had seen the creater to be open office in the pdf doc you posted. I'm not too fond of open office myself - well the older versions that is, but didn't look at it for a while.
But please be happy the way you like it _________________ Jan

-sPAPERSIZE=a4
-dDEVICEXRESOLUTION=300 -dDEVICEYRESOLUTION=300
(not that either of these will reliably affect anything -- papersize might, but I don't know if device resolution affects anything unless you specify device characteristics. I find that it is best to feed GS with files that have the right paper size and resolution before batch converting. I am probably overly cautious. Also document paper size in PDF is only nominally important: you can have varied paper sizes, including different rotations.)
regarding png: I direct you to http://png2pdf.sourceforge.net/ this kind of thing takes a lot of the work out of this kind of job. There are a lot of these kind of converters included in the std gs distro. _________________ -- Say "&Eth;onne hit wæs hrenig weðer" |
