Roland TMC6, eDrums, DFHS, Cubase SX: MIDI NOT WORKING!!! Subject description: I can't get the MIDI to talk to the computer. Please help me! |

Hello everybody:
I recently sold my whole acoustic setup and went electronic. I got the Hart Dynamics virtuoso kit, Drum Kit from Hell Superior and a Roland TMC6 Trigger-to-Midi converter. I also have a Digidesign 001 and record everything into Cubase SX 2. Basically, I want to bang on the electric drums and shoot the midi through this TMC6 to trigger the samples from Toontrack's DFHS. The problem is my computer doesn't seem to recognize the TMC6.
I have a USB Midi keyboard and was using DFHS just fine with Cubase... I've been at it for 2 days now and still can't figure out why. At first, I had MIDI OUT going from the TMC6 into the MIDI IN of my Digidesign DIGI001, but it wasn't working so I figured the Digi001 MIDI ports just didn't work with Cubase (according to some crap that I read). Anyway, I spent a few hours on that and came to the conclusion I should buy a dedicated M-Audio Uno midi-to-usb cable for the TMC6. I plug it in today and still no activity. I bang on the drums and nothing. The machine is turned on and I have put it on every channel. I use that program "MIDI-OX" and with everything turned on it still says NO INPUT DEVICES FOUND. The MIDI activity meter in Cubase shows nothing at all.
Not sure what is going on here. The rest of my setup includes Windows XP SP2, 1.8Gz AMD, 2 GB Ram, lotsa HD space, and the latest Directx. I have read through the TMC6 manual 100 times and can't get anywhere. If there is ANYONE who can help me I'd greatly appreciate it...this is such a sad sight looking at these comatose drums. I'm hoping I have overlooked a very simple thing...thanks in advance for your help!!!!!!!

I am running Cubase SX3 with a Presonus Firepod.
Sometimes when I first come up, the MIDI isn't working. If I tap the Control Wheel on my synth, then the MIDI starts working.
There is some kind of MIDI signal called "Active sensing" -- I don't really know much about it but I think the issue may be related to that. I've had the same issue with my Paia MIDI-to-CV converter. |
