With Nord Modular, I often make adjustments to control voltage response curves, like for example from linear to exponential. Are there analog modules for this?

Best regards

With an exponential VCA, you can send a signal to the signal in, and also the voltage control in. Then, with a CV amount knob, you can dial in the proper exponential curve.

If you want the curve to bend the other way, just invert the signal going to the CV in.

simple and effective, but having break-points in the curve is a bit more difficult. Still, there are modules to do even this, though they tend to be expensive and a bit more rare.

To be honest, the only one I've ever seen is the one in the Oberheim Matrix series. It maps a CV to a piecewise linear function which can have up to 5 line segments.

Tracking generation seems like the sort of thing a programmable controller (e.g., the PSIM) could do a bang-up job on. I might have to think about that...

Actually I think the Oberheim matrix gear simulates tracking and most modulation via a CPU and then converts it to analog for the actual hardware inside.

I'm sure the PSIM could deliver results if programmed.

Also, I would think the Blacet Miniwave would have potential.

for all not afraid of DIY there's an adaption of this tracking generator by grant richter:

and here's a link to an actual project (only present for the next couple of days):

Well, a neat module that you can use as a tracking generator is the Blacet "Miniwave". It's a hybrid digital/analog module that essentailly takes in an analog voltage, digitizes it, uses this conversion to address an EPROM lookup table, then converts the EPROM output back to analog output. This allows any type of input to output transform imanagable! Turn a ramp into a sine or random noise or whatever.

The input is DC coupled so it would be ideal in this application. I use it for LFO control voltage transformation and for audio rate stuff also.

From the Blacet website:

Quote:
The Blacet/Wiard Mini Wave is our incredibly popular wavetable lookup device with 256 on board waveforms (256 bytes per waveform). You drive it with a VCO sawtooth wave and it tracks the input frequency. Or, drive it with any waveform for some amazing distortion effects! Wave and Bank selection are voltage controllable! You will want more than one.

If you have the G2 Modular, you can use the X-Mux module and a group of Constant modules to create an eight-stage tracking generator, very similar to the Oberheim tracking generator. I made a Building Block patch here:
