anybody needin' a MN30__ BBD/ CA3080 OTA or two? |
 |
|
came upon a good sized box fulla BBDs at work. didn't have a real good look, but looks like a few tubes of MN3011s and MN3009s
also, some CA3080s
i inquired, and was told that i could probably have some if i were to sell some off. again, that was PROBABLY but it is very probable.
I just want to see how many of you delay/reverb/chorus/flange/OTA
heads would be wanting or needing some and what one exactly. Last edited by toppobrillo on Mon Nov 13, 2006 7:57 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Two things:
A. I'd certainly be interested in a MN3005 to back up the one in my Korg delay.
B. What wonderful, beautiful place do you work at? The only thing I see people giving up where I work are SMT devices one needs a microscope to see that they're about as useful for Synth DIY as waterskis are useful for chickens....
Cheers,
Scott |

Hi Topp!
Nice find, thanks for posting!
I'll take two of each please!
BTW, do you have any short-delay BBDs like MN3009 or MN3006?
Regards,
Joe |

well ok here is the preliminary count- scott, i was wrong about the 'few' 3005s, there is actually only one that i could find.
the bulk of it is about 200 MN3011s and around 100 MN3009s [256 stagers]. the reticon stuff is pretty scant.. a few of what look like before-market chips even...
also, i found a couple tubes of CA3080s while I was up there. don't know if these are used in any current product of ours or not.
anyways, i am now just waiting for an email. there was talk about someone going through the parts-store and doing some inventory/cleaning house and i said "I'll do it!"
haha we'll see |

Hey Topp,
Wow, I can't tell you how timely your post here is for me--spooky. For the past two weeks, I have been going back and forth on the phone with a guy from one of those big parts-distributers who actually gave me the time of day on a small quantity of MN3009s. Nothing has been solidified yet, so maybe this is a sign of something better. Fingers crossed.
If you get the go-ahead, as I hope you do, I would be in for a small handful (ten or so?) of the 3009s, as well as a couple of some others. Thanks again for offering this stuff up!
Regards,
Joe
PS: It just dawned on me . . . Sorry if I've been presumptuous about this! I don't know you and you don't know me ("My name is Joe, I'm a BBDaholic."), and I'm mostly just a lurker here anyway. Feel free to ignore me if I'm crashing a party I wasn't really invited to. . . . |

Hi Josh,
those CA3080 are kind or hard to find OTA's ( OPERATIONAL TRANSCONDUCTANCE AMPLIFIER) used in many synth circuits
like the DS7
and VCA's i think many of us might be interested in those (atleast I am) _________________ Association of experimental electronics

The MN3009's would be super cool, as well as the MN3011's - shoot us a price!!
Thanks for posting this.

cool
hey no man everyones invited to this party. still waiting on the OK from the top.
I'll probably do a few lots of 5 or 10 on the'bay, but reserve some for sales of 1 or 2 or whatever. I wanted to tell ya'll about it first. after i get the OK and prices, feel free to tell whoever else on any other forums you guys are active in.
Small Bear sells the MN3011 for $15.95, so my thinking was to do about 70% of that which comes out to about $11 orso apiece. i could proooobbbbabbbly arrange for free shipping on them in the continental US.
the 3009 seem to be harder to come by, so they might be alittle more. |

And don't forget the extra 10% discount for cool people who hang around electronic music forums and actually know and care about BBDs. . . . |

-heya-
thanks for being patient... sometimes things like this take a bit of waiting around for 'yes's' and 'ok's as they go through the proper channels of authorization....... but it's gravy baby
and not that brown salt-water you get from KFC neither... this stuff actually came from ADA's liquidation sale.
Here is the breakdown
MN3011/MN3009- $10.00 Ea... 10 or more gets a Price-Break
CA3080- $2.00 Ea.
We are in the process of setting up a PayPal acct. [along with an Ebay ID] to accept payment...
Additionally, we are set up to process checks and Money Orders directly.
Shipping to continental US will be a flat-rate $5.00 for USPS, if UPS Ground is preferred, that can be arranged as well.
Overseas shipping has not yet been determined, and i suppose will have to be calculated on a case-by-case basis.
PM me for orders with the following:
Item
Quantity
Payment type
Address, Preferred shipping if other than USPS
And I will provide you with a Price Quote.
Feel free to spread the word to any FX/Synth heads you know!
Remember, these are NOS and sold as-is.

update:
things are definitely moving along! we now have PayPal set up [it was like pulling teeth! had to get it when a guy in Greece told me it would cost him like 15 Euro to send $60 US...] so, everyone's welcome to use it... I just have to add 5% cause that's what they charge...
Cool then. |

Hey Topp (and All),
Received my MN3009s yesterday! Thanks for the prompt shipment! They look good but I haven't had a chance to test them yet. Will post results sometime soon.
Thank you again Topp for the opportunity to get a hold of these hard-to-find chips. . . .
Regards,
Joe |
