Subject description: cant update yje OS?
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi,
I just bought a Waldorf XT, I am trying to update the OS (from 2.11 to 2.26) but it just wont work? Is there any way to reset the synth to factory default or something? I figured I might try that first before I update it.

Regards/Chris

What are you using to load the file OS file in with? I find MidiOX the absolute best at this. Your typical sequencer software can work but sometimes there are sysex filters and what not that make it difficult.

I don't believe there is.

When using a sequencer, make sure you have the bps fairly low; 80ish.

In MidiOx you may have to expand the buffer.

I remember having a hard time loading an OS into my XT (or was it my Q) and not being able to do it with Sonar. As soon as I went to MidiOX it loaded effortlessly (after I struggled to figure out the setup.) If my memory serves me correctly, you also have to have the Midi Out and Midi In hooked between the XT and the computer.

You might want to experiment first by outputting presets from the XT to your sequencer and then vice versa. That will tell you if there is some communication from the synth to the computer.

I also was wondering if perhaps you are making too big of a jump from one OS to the next. I could be wrong. You might want to try the next OS up from what you have and see if that will load.

Finally! It worked, I took time and worked a bit more with MIDIOX and it was a fast thing upgrading from 2.11 to 2.33. Thanks a lot for the tip! =)

Glad it worked out. MidiOx is quite good. Now go and enjoy that XT! Make some music.
