Ok, you have no sound and trouble with MIDI. Can you select patches from the front panel interface ? Any other weird things happening ?
I'll move this to the NM Classic section, but I'll leave a link. _________________ Jan

I vaguely remember an issue that occasionally hapened with the NM Classic resulting in no sound. It had something to do with audio routing, something that is not possible in the 3.03 version but it was in earlier versions. But there seems to be traces left of old code or something. I do not remeber how it could be cured ... maybe downgrading the OS and then upgrading again to 3.03 would do the trick - you'll lose all intrnal patches in that process though. _________________ Jan

also it looks like in the beta editor it cant find the NM via midi. so is it that the firewire 410 is not compatible? |

Hmm, I said a not so smart thing - a bit up - re. the down/upgrade process .. when the MIDI interface won't work that's pretty hard to do probably. You could try though if the OS loader still works, if so try to upgrade to 3.03. It should not loose patches I think.
Also I vaguely remember something about clean booting, starting up while having certain keys pressed - that info never reached the FAQ I think, and I really can't remember ... sorry.
You could try to google on the secret keys, it might be in some mailing archive, very likely it is, but such info cna be hard to google.
Sorry again for just offering moral support here. _________________ Jan

its defently possible that a midiinterface is causing the problem or is part of the problem..so you defently should try with another one to ensure that this is not interfearing with the update process.
Its possible that NM1 gets internal memory corruption... there is the issue that there are no gaps between safed patches are allowed...
regarding the system reset.. Its bad that theese info is not availible in the forum..we should try to get this information.. maybe asking the mailing list? |

Up to OS3 the NM treated the physical outputs as busses. The outputs in the patches culd be mapped to this fromt the synth settings.
(quite obscure, I remember Rob looked quite surprised when I brought this up as a advantage of v2.10)
All outputs would end up on some bus, I think so if that's it you might want to try the various hardware outputs, just lay 4 cables to your desk and listen to all of them.
If it's a bug I have no idea and no guarantees as to fixes. _________________ Kassen |

They could also be off/unrouted IIRC. _________________ Jan

Oh.
Ooops.
So the code for that is still there, they just took out the interface? then made the updater to v3.x keep the settings?
That would be one silly oops...
Ok, so; backup, grab the 2.10 from that NordUSA topic, downgrade, change system settings , upgrade again.
That sucks. _________________ Kassen |

I don't know that, I suspect it to be the case. I had some pretty good reasoning for it some years ago, at least I thought so. Maybe some traces are left n the email archives, but it's something that occasionally happens, the Classics loosing their sound. There was a fix as well I think, but djeez it's too long ago, I forgot all the details. _________________ Jan

That could have been it yes, the fix I mean. A down/upgrade cycle is not a bad thing to try when the Classic goes weird - except that you'll loose all the stored paches. _________________ Jan
