I would like to get my hands on a good natural sounding piano VST and also the same for strings.
Which VST's would people recommend? |

I don't know about piano sounds but I found this site for freebies!

Now I hope the forum doesn't mind, but I'm really a Noob, I am still trying to figure out the basics of synthesizers, MIDI and what they do. Just a few days ago I finally figured out how to hook up my keyboard to the computer and produce MIDI notes. Then I figured out how to use a VST instrument. I realized "hey, it does the same thing a guitar effects pedal does... it tweaks the notes! Duh!"
Is VST the same as a 'soft synth"? It takes your notes and tweaks them into weird sounds? Are "native instruments" the same thing?
I found how to hook up to a computer and play the keyboard via MIDI thru a VST instrument, but I can only hear it thru headphones via my computer speaker and it's kind of clumsy and it freezes my Cubase. Is it possible to get the sound out of my keyboard amp? run a cable from the computer sound out to the amp??
What are "modular synths", do they also do the same thing?
Could I take a simple keyboard such as the Yamaha MM6 and attach it to one of those modular synths via MIDI cables, and tweak the sounds? Is that how it works?
Still trying to figure it all out. I'm just a simple guitar player _________________ The most important gear is the brain behind the instrument. |
