After watching SuperKoopa air druming(by the way, great groove!) i felt like i need a theremin for my sound lab! but i don't really want to spend all that money on a paia kit (yes...i'm sheap).

So i found this simple popular electronics schematic and pcb for a Theremin.

http://www.swtpc.com/mholley/PopularElectronics/Nov1967/PE_Nov1967.htm

Transistor may be old...and if they're not around anymore i gess there are some substitutes...just gessing

Anyways, the main problem is that in this schematic ther are no CV or Gate out put controls.

Anyone knows how to had some of those? or how to turn it to justa theremin control? is it possible or it's just a wast of time?

I don't know but wouldn't it be cool if the soundlab had an oficial theremin circuit for him?

Thank you for your time, rubens.

P.S.- that popular electronics cover it's great. Wink

ok you must know what you want! Cool

Do you want the classic sinusoidal tone of the theremin plus an efficient CV controler for your SL? ok I think that paia theremax is the best diy theremin on the net so i advise to get one of them.

Do you need just a CV controler and you don't care about the tone ?
there is a bunch of simple schematics on thereminworld.com but they don't have the cv converter.
So if you don't want to spend 100$ with theremax you can try to build this:
http://home.att.net/~theremin1/Glasgow/glasgow.html
you can take a CV output from pin 8 of U7 and amplify to +/-12 V with a buffer amplifier.
The other CV Goes to pin 11 of U15 from the volume antenna circuitry.

You can also try to build this:http://www.thereminworld.com/pics/schematics/simple.jpg
and try to clone the frequency to voltage converter of paia theremax (the shocking pink zone on the schematics) and connect it in series with the simple CMOS theremin

Anyway, good luck!

If you can try and save 1 bill, just get the theremax. It sounds good, it has the cv's, It's easy as hell to put together. 100 bucks for tons of fun and a unique intrument you'll have forever, not a bad deal.
