New batch of Andromedas Subject description: Have the tuning issues been rectified? |
 |
|
Hi Guys
I just ordered a new A6 2 weeks ago with some trepidation after reading about tuning problems. The rep in my area assurded me that these issues have been resolved. I was just wondering if any of you who have purchased Andys recently, within the last 4 months, have had any problems?
Thanks
From a bass player turned synth addict. |

Hey,
Yes i just purchased my new A6 two weeks ago here in the UK, was a bit sensitive about the whole tuning thing at first, as my first A6 bought in december 2006 had the notorious tuning issues with 4 bad voice chips. I had to obviously return this, and lost hope in buying a new analog poly synth. Till the A6's came back.
I have fully checked my new unit (as much as i can, you cannot check it all...it's a beast), all seems fine so far .
Apparently the A6's are now out of production and these are the last new lot that are floating around the globe. Last edited by Groove66 on Tue May 22, 2007 4:57 pm; edited 1 time in total |

Hi Groove66
Thanks for the reply
I'm glad your A6 is working. That certainly puts me at ease about my purchase.
My rep tells me I should have mine soon. Should be a rippin' good time when I get on board the beast.
Cheers! |

| I purchased mine in the US a few weeks ago and I've experience no tuning issues at all. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It looks good so far. |

Hi,
I bought a new A6 2 months ago and I also had a tuningproblem. My A6 went back to the servicecentre and I contacted Alesis America and U.K. about this problem. They told me that the latest models have upgraded oscilatorchips and they all doesn’t work as they should be. I’m still waiting for my A6 since 9 weeks now and they told that the new chips arrive in somewhere in june . My A6 also had a bootingproblem. |

It sucks huh....I had two brand new models both with tuning issues.
In the end I got a 2nd hand one from the guy in the US which works fine.
An extra bonus though was it cost £400 less than retail and its one of the limited edition red Andys.... damn happy with it

Please keep us posted when you get your A6 fixed.
Are you sure that your A6 was from the new 2007 batch? Also where did you purchase from?
From what i have been told, the newer A6's have been fitted with modified chips. This means very little, but i am hoping things remain as should. i am planning to spend maximum time with my unit under the warranty period. |

| I'm sure that my A6 is from the newer 2007 batch. I bought my A6 @ the Musichouse Utrecht, The Netherlands. At the moment it's not possible to repair my A6 because the new oscilatorchips for all the Andromeda's will arrive somewhere in june. The oscilatorchips of all new Andromeda's in stock will be replaced. That's also a reason why they can't give me another (new) machine at the moment. |

Hope you get your A6 sorted out.
Who told you that all new Andromeda's in stock are going to be replaced with new oscillator chips? I doubt that to be true, because they were already newer type oscillators.
Also, you mentioned that you had boot up problems as well. This was something i recall happening on certain units from 2006.
I will try and find out from Alesis UK. |

hope it's not another trick to spare time to sell more "reasonable" synth's.
be sure to get the warrantytime back you lose while waiting.
Still don't understad why the numarkboys don't upgrade the os software with a function to retune the globaltuningtables by the people themself.
would spare them a lot of complains, bad publicity and tricks to keep people on the line!
ps the story of bad chips since 2007 is also absolute nonsense, i bought mine in 2003 and had the same problems. then it was said it was common to analog synth, it would make them sound more lively !
( if anybody doubts my words, read the code404 site subject "microtuning" which describes the subject and discussion we then held with the "numarkboys") |
