New Member Greeting & Question |

Greetings all,
On Wout's recommendation, I've just joined this site. My name is Jim. I live in Philly, PA and am a hobbyist producer and remixer. I mainly compose ambient and downtempo songs, but have recently decided to expand into traditional Goa trance as well (it was my first "love" in electronic music).
I just ordered my first hardware synth this week, a Nord Lead 2X Rack and it will be here no later than Wed of next week. I really enjoy the soft-synths I've been using...but I've always dreamt of owning a Nord...and now it's finally happening.
I do have a quick question for everyone. I run Cubase SX 3 and I'm on a Dell Inspiron 9300 (1.6Ghz, 1 Gig RAM) using M-Audio's Audiophile USB as my soundcard and MIDI interface. Are there any Cubase SX 3 or M-Audio considerations I should be aware of to make the Nord "at home" with my set-up?
Looking forward to this site and constantly continuing my production education.
Peace,
Jim |

Gemini Ambiance!
I think you will have better questions to ask once you receive your new baby from the stork and you get to know it better. _________________ Garret: It's so retro.

There surely will be a CuBase profile somewhere, in which all Midi CC's are already defined.
To the rest, the Clavia synths are also stand alone machines, so just 'plug it in'...
Ohh, and remember when sending Midi from the computer, be sure to fire up the synth first, because sometimes it freezes when receiving Midi and booting at the same time...

ALL
So much enthusiasm for a synth already over 12 years old!
In fact that's really old in synth land!

Perhaps that is due to a few reasons: I am really a guitar player just now really getting into synths. Plus I favor hardware over soft ... I don't know, it is part of the joy of making music to physically touch the instrument (this is probably related to me being a guitar player). Maybe I just like to turn knobs. _________________ pfft |

Then the NordLead (1 or 2 or 2X) is your synth...
