anyone heard of this synth? i'll post pics when i have access to a camera.

a friend of mine picked one up from an abandoned house. it looks very interesting, but we're going to have a look at the power supply before we plug it in and have a listen...

ok, so it doesn't work... yet

i have no idea about this and a cursory look online doesn't yield any good results.

it certainly looks interesting, lots of outputs per sound generator as well as stereo output and headphones output. my friend is getting the pics off his camera as i type.

i've never seen anything quite like this. i suspect the fuse on the board has blown, so really i need to figure out where i can get a replacement.

I´d like to know what is on the board you see. That will actually be pretty interesting to know.

Say, can I move this into one of the gear forums later on? I´d also like to post something about this device in the DIY forum.

O ye!

i was waiting for ages for this to show up, just out of pure curiosity.
i do have this machine in my room along with its smaller brother, which is just 5 drum voices with 5 trigger inputs and 1 mono/stereo output with a few switches. it also has the pretentious text "super analogue synthetiser system" written on it, however both are drum machines. you can get pretty nice things out of these, the snare is just wonderful, i never managed to do a snare like it on my g2 engine, so i often have the nord trigger these.
the k2x even has built in preset patterns with tempo which are not that bad at all.

Would you mind posting a picture of the little one? I had never heard of these things and I am on a tear to research. Pictures help. Smile

Note the hole for the rackmount in middle of the ears, its actually quite a nice thing. As for the K2-X, i looked at the ic's: the first and the third row is LM324 quad opamps, they are common today. the second row is CA3080 OTA`s, i believe those are available as well. the rest are 4 of 4558`s. Trannies are BC557 and somethings i do not not know, would have to soldier out one of the to see properly. my fuse is 250mA, 250v if you wonder.

At a certain period lot of these things were around, drum brains that could be triggered. I like the Snare, it has a bit of bleed-thru if you trigger it with audio, it might even be just white noise, but its quite sensitive to the input, usable... the bass is not so nice (or just not deep enough for my taste) you can get so much nicer things out of simpler things now, (let apart a nord modular), or even with lowpass filtering the bloody thing. it wouldn`t be hard to measure it and come up with a schemo, but to be honest id go for Thomas Henry's drum voice or the clangora if i were You.

(Actually on the second thought i might be wrong, i might measure it and breadboard a channel to see what can be done with this, and than modify the beast if it goes any better with mods. The flat box and big pots are sort of nice, sort of gigable, tho i terribly hate plastic potmeters somehow. i tend to brake them during alcohol-fuelled gigs.)

r.
