Subject description: who can bail me out?

hi all,

i am looking for a couple of PNP matched pairs like AD821, MAT-03.

could anybody bail me out? paypal would be great...

(the suppliers i usually order from don't provide them, farnell or digikey are no alternative for me as continental european, mouser would have been okay but i didn't found PNP matched pairs other than SMD).

Is the SSM2220 suitable?
..shame Analog Devices don't seem to offer free samples so easily any more, though I think you can contact them to request such..
Sorry to say that I don't think I have any to spare..
Good luck with the search! Is it for something from the AS21C by any chance?!

Yes, I noticed that as well. My last attempt needed clearance from a sales person. They've also stopped sending me their newsletters, which usually linked to one or two freebies.

Last I looked it wasn't to hard to find the inexpensive Japanese monolithic pairs. Look for 2SA798 or2SA1349. These should be plenty good enough for the 8083 design.

I can probably spare two 2SA798 if you can't find anything else...

Actually a few companies have limited their free samples. At one time I was able to get all sorts of free IC that I use all the time. Now I cant get any of them as samples anymore. Oh well I guess I have to buy them now. These companies probably noticed they where giving too many away for free to us DIY'ers.

If you want some matched PNP pairs you could email THAT Corp. I just got some samples from them. Actually they quoted me $88.00 for 25 THAT 340's.
THAT 340 contains, two matched PNP and two matched NPN. I needed some of these for JH's SSM2040 clone that i'm going to build.

Farnell over here (NL) require you to be a company. You can order as a private individual, but then you face an awkward procedure and rather large minimum order. I'm not sure how how it is in Germany, but as Fonik mentions that Farnell is no option, I guess it's the same there.

I bought some SSM2220s from a local electronics supplier that distributes parts from Farnell.
If you only need a few and don't mind the price (probably €5-10 each), perhaps you could ask your local electronic shops if they can order SSM2220s from Farnell to you ?

But I believe 2SA798s should be adequate, like frijitz said.

I don't think it was the DIYers that killed the free sample trough - I think it was the Ebay order-samples-then-sell artists. I recall seeing a lot of very expensive AD parts on Ebay, in the exact number per sale that AD offered as samples. If I was the guy in charge of samples and saw that, I'd feel inclined to tighten up the policy, too.

I usually only went for samples of stuff that couldn't easily be bought, myself, except for a few sleazy freebies Very Happy

2SA798s would certainly do the trick, I think.

If you punch 2sa798 into the Mouser search you get a replacement piece, NTE43. Think this is ok?
