Hi,

I want to start building a soundLab, but some problems occured when I tried to get the parts together.
I'm having real problems finding the 20K/200K/3M/620K and 500Ohm resistors with 5%. Do they really need the 5% or could I use the 1%resistors?
Or any other suggestions?

You can always use 1% resistors (or capacitors, or ..) when 5% is prescribed. 5% means that they should be accurate within 5% (i.e. a 100 ohm 5% resistor can be anything from 95 .. 105 ohm). 1% does just that (and a bit better even as the 100 ohm 1% can be anything from 99 .. 101 ohm).

great, that makes things a lot easier Wink

Thanks a lot Smile

another question: C3 should be a tantalum capacitor with 2uF. But I can only find 2,2uF... would that be okay too?

Go ahead and use the 2.2....
C3 is in the envelope generator circuit - don't sweat it. It's for the length/rate of the decay, and is discharged based on the setting on the associated pot.

On determining substitutions and kludges - it often clears things up to take a look at what it does in the circuit -or even what circuit it's in. An envelope generator or noise generator is a lot less part critical than an oscillator....

Granted I'm not a super-designer, but when I build for my work the parts used on the breadboard are an approximation - I use whatever is in the parts box and works....
