I have bought an ex-demo A6 in mint condition about 2 weeks ago that has been hanging around in the dealer's showroom for few months, is there a way to know the date of production of A6's through their serial numbers ?

Addiction, Alesis could tell you specifically, but the last few digits of the serial number are the actual units produced. The first one hundred or so went to reps and as store demos.

Thanks Peake .. I think you are right, the SN of my unit is :
(21)A6003020800115
So that might mean that it is the 115th unit since the production run ?

P.S. tried your tip on offsetting lfo on the "Series 900" patch .. sounds much better. Thanks.

It's been a while since I've seen an entire A6 serial number, but that sounds right, and yes, 115 would be a very early unit. Check the bottom of the unit, if the QC sticker has the initials MP, then I tested it on the assembly line.

(IIRC, the red units, of which I know of 71 built prior to the bankruptcy, start "A5".)

It should work just fine, once you replace the pot. There are a couple of minor issues that might crop up, but are extremely rare. Stay close to the forums and ask questions so you'll know if things are alright with your unit, and to ease the learning curve.

Thanks Peake for your words, actually I find the tips and tricks document highly valuable and I wish that synthesizer manuals were written with the same attitude .. it is more fun and refreshing. Hey, I've just checked the bottom silver sticker and has a "T" (tested ?) with a pen circle around it and then M C .. what would that be ?? javascript:emoticon('Wink')

My A6's SN is (21)A10704045700701
Peake, what's the story behind this numbers?
There's white sticker on the bottom (not the silver one like yours, addiction) with letter T inside a circle and M C, which means someone who's initials are MC tested this unit, I presume?
