I´m tired of google. tired of adds or price compare machines that always show up, but know nothing about what i´m looking for.
So if you are looking for info on a microphone called RM30-2 or want to find an old ic called is231st-bgm or the shematics to some machine, called gringelbix, where do you go in the internet?

Go to Google Shocked (and I really find this Shocked ing)

There is yahoo & stuff, but it's not better. There are some alternatives under development that depend on people bringing in "relevance" on a large scale (larger than google does), but the scale was still too small last time I looked into it, maybe a year ago (and so I forgot all the names ..).

IMO it helps to have a well trained add blocker, the pages will be much easier to read without all the moving stuff, meaning less annoyance.

Any google "query" that generates more than a few hundred results seems worthless, try to make it less.

Use quotes for exact word combinations, and use the - (minus) option to exclude words you really don't want to see (depending on context).

Thanks, but that´s what i already do.
Most often, if i filter my search so i don´t see useless stuff, i end up with - nothing...

erm, ok, well, maybe someone else didn't already do it ...

For me too typing the right words into google needs some luck. Maybe someone else knows better ways, I'd like to know about 'm as well.

It all depends. I get a lot out of Google but I tend to use several words in the search and sometimes I will research a subject before I actually start the search for what I am really looking for.

Shocked

Hmm... and no: "You cannot do Proust in 15 seconds" - for the phrase?

Not all my sayings are in Google yet. But this one will turn up within a couple of days I think. Very Happy

Good for searches that turn up lots of hits. Groups all of the hits into categories that might help you find what you're looking for a little quicker.

yeah if you’re looking for chips then google, alldatasheet, etc.. then mouser to see if they still have the info for obsolete parts which they often do. then maybe also findchips and then dig into any of those company sites for datasheets. then search all the forums for info or links. it goes on and on.

for device's or hardware like the mic you mentioned. if there isn't anything popping up in google or ebay. then there are a lot of audio forums to do searches in and they should lead you to personal sites that host random manuals or diy talk.

but yes, one of the best sources for odd stuff is found in other peoples chatter about it in forums and then see what sort of info gets posted in replies or post yourself

also remember that people will sometimes type in model numbers in odd ways. with dashes and spaces and company id’s and sometimes without, so you have to try them all.
