Hi,

I would like to know how to set an exact tempo (e.g. 125 bpm) to the arpeggiator in nord rack 2x. Anyone can help me on this one?

Regards
Luis

Unfortunately the NordLead doesn't use exact values... This makes it impossible to set the Nord to a given tempo.

But you can look at it from a different point of view... Set all other gear, mostly the sequencer like CuBase, to the tempo which the Nord is using. This isn't a joke, though, but most sequencers are able to make a tempo of 124.557 BPM, if needed. Can you feel the difference between 125 BPM and 127 BPM? Only when you are the bass drum beater of the Military Mass Marching Band playing at Coloring the Troops. That guy is trained to let everybody walk an exact distance in an exact time. He's British, of course Smile

Attached is a list giving some of the values of the Lead's LFO1, which is exact the same as LFO2, which in its turn is driving the Arpeggiator. I didn't do all the values yet, but in time I will continue the research. The outcome is in milli-seconds and in Herz, no BPM. Using ms, 125 BPM will be 60 000 divided by 125, which is 480 ms. That is in between 55 and 60 of the LFO value. So in this case I have to determine the values 56 to 59 to find the most nearest tempo, in which value the tempo of the sequencer could be set. BTW the values are not in a linear curve, so double the setting (e.g. 20 is not twice as fast as 10) will not work! Every value has to be measured.

To set the value of the LFO2 Rate press [Shift+LFO1Rate] and every knob movement is visible in the little screen in values.

And maybe you can use this together with the 'sync' function [Manual Page 68 and further - LFO1 is the same as LFO2], but the longest sync is a bar, although this bar can be as long as you like in the sequencer (In my old CuBase - Version 1.10 the longest bar is 16/2, so one is able to write 4 or 8 bars until the next syncing pulse, which set the Arpeggiator in line again, if needed.)

The main thing is still set the sequencer to the tempo of the Arpeggiator

Reading this, would it be worthwhile to do the research to the other settings? If you don't want to, why should I take the effort? Smile

Wout

Razz

I just realized there is some software which is able to determine BMP!
Using this and making the AMP Envelope creating very short notes, all this would be done in a jippie!

Where can I find a good BMP counter on the net?

Wout
