Here's a track we composed and performed for a convention of astronomers Oct. 6. It commerorates the launching of Sputnik 50 years ago. We have titled it, "Initial Launch."

Initial Launch.mp3
 Description:
Michael used some samples of Sputnik's radio beeps and a news broadcast of the event.

This is quite nice -- love the Orb-y bleeps at the beginning!

The bleeps in the very beginning are an actual recording of the Sputnik in orbit. The voice is from a news radio broadcast made at the time.

I just now got a chance to browse the "Media" section for the first time in a little while and found your track. Great work!

Mark,

Another fine track from the Mahoney/Peck team.

I am curious about how you sync up your music. Do you guys work form a common clock source for your sequencers and other timed modules?

I believe Michael is using XPhrase VST for the first half of the track. That's what is playing that dance groove thing. He's inserting and mangling loops (beeps and voice) via his laptop and perhaps playing a synth or two for FX and pads. I'm playing a Little Phatty for the Acid-ish squelchy lead/bass line. On the second half of the track I have my Waldorf Q rack playing a step sequence while Michael fills in with pads with one of his synths. There's no other sequencing going on, no midi clocks. We're not even hooked together via midi. In fact, no two synths are sync'd together in either of our rigs.
