Hi,

Sorry if this is a numpty question or has already been asked before, but is there any difference between the LM13600 and the LM13700.

I have had a VERY quick look through the datasheet.

It's just that I've noticed some people tend to use one and some use the other.

Ray (MFOS) - LM13700
Tom (EFM) - LM13600

but the circuits (filters) look very similar.

One of the reasons I'm asking is because I wish to have a go at some of Toms filters (Korg Delta, MS20, EMS Diode ladder etc) but I find it easier to get LM13700's, So I thought I might use these.

Is that a no no???

Cheers

Daz

The OTA sections are the same. There is a bit of difference in the buffers. (IMO you should never use the buffers, anyway.)

Very Happy

Hi
From memory, according to posters on the old EFM list, the 13600 sounds better in the VCF2F (moog ladder), and in the Wildcat VCF of the same type.
I couldn't hear a significant difference using 13700 or 13600s in the VCF6C diode ladder.

Daz - if you're *really* stuck for 13600s, PM me. I may be able to spare a few for trade or whatever.....

cheers,

Dave

I *think* that this is the same old story of people who are able to "hear the weed growing" as we say it here in germany.

Like frijitz posted - the difference lies in the output buffer.
And I agree, not to use this buffer at all.
13700 and 13600 are both bad. Very Happy

They sound ok - so far, but the offset voltage is imho too large.
Better use the good ol' CA3080 with a separate trimpot to reduce offset, if this is an item.

However, if the item is sound, I prefer modern VCA's like SSM2164.
