Very Happy Thanks!

I was testing it last week with the Jomox Xbase 888 and a bit of swing and this is pure techno!

This week I will record some live sessions and I will post it.

Confused
completed the machine and it's sounds amazing!!!
but the only thing that isn't working good is the "filter center" 100k
knob it has maybe a tiny effect on the noise sound but thats it..

i checked the wiring, replaced the knob, and replaced q8 transistor , but still no effect...

could anyone tell me where to look for in order to finally close that case
and have fun with this beast?
thanks !

Hello

I would like to build mine as stand alone unit, so I have choosen to build the power supply from Ken Stone:
http://www.cgs.synth.net/modules/cgs66_psu.html

I have a nice small transformer which I would like to use, but I don't know if it's suitable for a single MPS board.
This transformer is rated as 18V 8VA 0,5A.
Should I get a "bigger" one?

Thanks!

I'd say that one will do fine.
I'm pretty sure Scott has some current readings for it, but they don't get beyond 250mA per rail.

Hello,

I couldn't tell from your description if this was center-tapped with 18V on each side (which would work very well), or just 18V single-sided (which wouldn't).

I haven't taken the current rating on the MPS, but it ought to be in the neighborhood of +/-50mA at +/-15V as a rule-of-thumb guess.

Hope this helps,

Thomas Henry

Hi all,

just got 50% of the wiring done (on creatorlars's panel) and stuck with some questions (again):

(1) On my REV 107 board, there is no J21 to connect VC cutoff. any idea where to fine the right connect point ?
(2) Trigger Button: how to connect ? 15V+ 100nf switched to the TRIG IN ?
(3) the LEVEL pots for IMPACT, NOISE AND SHELL are replacing the on/on/on switch, so how to wire ?
(4) Send/Recv: How to wire ? To which pins ?
(5) Mix Out+ Pot: I would assume J17/7 to CW pin, Jack OUT to Middle and CCW = Earth ?

I am coming closer to a finished wiring and a ratsnest Smile

Thanks for any help

i am also wondering how to deal with question #1 below.

i'm not sure about the other questions, but here's what i did for the send and receive jacks: i connected j14#1, j14#8 and j16#2 to their respective send jacks which are normalled to their receive jacks which go to the top of the noise, shell, and impact pots. this just puts the jacks in between the output and the level pots, and if nothing is inserted in them it's business as usual.

good luck with the rest.

Thank you Thomas & Unkle Krunkus
Yes it is center-tapped 18V with two windings (so I have one 18v and one 0v per side).

If the MPS is around 50mA, I will be able to use this power supply to feed some other modules which I will build in the future. Am I right?

Thanks again for your help.

PostPosted: Wed Dec 16, 2009 9:33 am    Post subject: MPS Bridechamber panel review Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Scott at Bridechamber has posted his preliminary design for an MPS panel on the Modular Synth Panel Yahoo group. I repost it here for convenience. Since I haven't built or used an MPS yet, would those of you who have take a look and comment on completeness, etc..? I already mentioned that it's the Mega Percussive Synth, and not the Mega Percussion Synth...

Scott's planning to "probably start the ball rolling Friday for the metal order", so quick response greatly appreciated, either here or to the Yahoo group.

Thanks,
Dan

The Bridechamber panel is going to change a bit:

1) 'Percussive' like Dan pointed out
2) 'www.electro-music.com' will be added
3) Noise CV jack and attenuator will be added
4) LED and switches will be moved

And other suggestions?
I'll post a new one hopefully tonight.

Thanks,
Scott

Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hi all,

I've been having so much fun soldering the parts together!
Now it's time to do the actual panel, I browsed the forum a bit to look at all the designs around (quite impressive!)
In any case I have a black 2 unit 19" enclosure that is going to be a stand alone'ishly MPS I made a design for it although it was kind of hard to fit everything on there, knobby knobs I guess Very Happy

Can anyone have a quick look and tell me if they think it is workable, I mean will this make realtime fiddling economical£/ergonomical or not?
best

Hello

It seems I have missed the info about that J21 connector on rev.107 boards...
But I have already drilled my front panel and I am currently wiring the pots.
And I have used Bugbrand's template with confidence, so I made a 20 pots (I have added the "main volume" pot) and 4 jacks version.

Should I forget the 100KB CV pot linked to the Noise CV Jack? Or is there a way to still use this pot?
Should I also let away this Noise CV Jack input?

Thanks for your help!

On the REV 107 board, there is no J21 to connect the noise CV in. Is there another place? Should I be asking this question somewhere else?

there is no Noise CV IIRC.
I added the Noise CV jack to my first panel becase i thought i forgot something.
It's still unconnected........

IIRC there was disscussion about this early in this thread, and they left then the Noise CV out.
Thats all i can tell you
