The Spaceworks Gallery and The Tank are proud to host
the New York City branch of THE PLACARD FESTIVAL, an
international festival of experimental and electronic
music with performances in New York, London, Tokyo,
Paris, Barcelona, and Amsterdam. THE PLACARD FESTIVAL
NYC will include a wide range of experimental and
electronic music performances including laptop
improvisation, home built instruments, an interactive
microphone stand demonstration, a workshop on
Thermo-Acoustic Instruments, and live video art from
some of New York’s premiere video artists.
Festival attendees are encouraged to bring headphones
with them to THE PLACARD FESTIVAL NYC. In order to
promote an atmosphere of critical and attentive
listening, some of the live performances will be
accessible by headphones only.
Performers in THE PLACARD FESTIVAL NYC are pioneers in
their field from across the US as well as from Canada,
Europe, Central America, and Australia. In addition,
THE PLACARD FESTIVAL NYC will be exclusively
web-streaming the entire PLACARD FESTIVAL LONDON to
The Tank, featuring performances from the stars of
London’s experimental music scene.
THE PLACARD FESTIVAL launches the Spaceworks Gallery’s
experimental music series, and kicks off its premiere
gallery show, running from mid-July through
mid-August.
