Happy New Year 2008 everyone!
My thanks and gratitude goes out to you all as well.
We have a great community here.

Since I was unable to stream, I made this recording of what I had planned. This is a very rough mix (far from perfect or what I had in mind, but I wanted to get something out to you). But you can get the idea.

Title: Dusty (electro-music.com mix NYE08)
Artist: Jason Berg Presents Amber's Portal
Location: www.myspace.com/ambersportal
It is the first song loaded.
Be well!
Thank you,
Jason

Here's the possible list of what we used:

Paulo - Fender Stratocaster, Roland GR33, Line6 Pod X3 Live, PowerBook G4 with Ableton Live 6, Shure SM57/58, Behringer mixer, Lexicon and Yamaha fx;
José - Yamaha SY22, Korg Monopoly, Behringer mixer, distortion pedals;
Jono - NS upright bass, Boss DD3, other pedals and processing;
ocp - MacBook Pro with Ableton Live 6, M-Audio O2

I'll edit it later with the missing bits ( ;

Thanks to Howard and Jan for technical and organizational efforts. Thanks to all the music providers for such great music, be it live or prerecorded. Thanks to anyone else who aided the effort and thanks to the listeners for your support. I wish you all a Happy New Year.

Here's what I might have played last night:

Modulator ESP NY 2008 Improv

It's mostly spacey ambient, but the sequencers and trons are fired up about halfway through Smile

I felt bad because your set fell into the part where the problems were at their worst. Thanks for rebounding and being so good natured about it.

I think we'll get better at this streaming thing with more events. Not speaking for Howard, but it seems common sense we'll need to work out the bugs. And as we know Howard did a LOT of work on this.

I personally hope that we'll do more of these.

I vote for it!
This is what radio should be about, bringing people together.
The "live" side of it enhances the experience, both for the listener(s) and the performer(s)!

OCP,

For now it seems that if you want to save your chat contents, just highlight (CTRL-A) everything in the chat window and right click. A JAVA save tet window will pop up. Now just highlight all of that the same way, COPY it then PASTE that into you word processor or text editor like NOTEPAD if you are using Windows ....

There might be an easier way but I don't see a LOGGING function anywhere ???

If we need some dates spread out through the year we could always align them with the old pagan festivals

Thanks to all you guys that couldn't stream for posting your sets. Great stuff.

I'm up for doing that in the future. I'm not keen on pagan festivals, but there are many non-cultural dates: equinoxes, solstices, 1st or last days of the month, Tuedays,

Anyway, the excuse isn't the important thing. I think I have some technical issues to work out before we do another one. Things that will make it more reliable and user friendly. I need some tools for helpers too.

In the relatively near future, I'd like to do a test run with the fixed software just to see if it works.

Although they may be coincidental at times, choosing a pagan festival date may then become an exclusion for some people due to religious reasons. As this forum intends to be as inclusive as possible, choosing dates which have no dedicated religious connotations would allow the most individuals to participate without certain objections. Equinoxes and such occurences are physical manifestations of nature, everyone experiences them, that they may be celebrated by certain peoples does not neccessarily make them "religious" dates. I can understand Howard's reticence to choose dates which would be troublesome for anyone.

Count me in if you need testers. I'm anxious to see the system working correctly, and for my own satisfaction I'd particularly like to determine what the appropriate levels are throughout the system for the best end result.

So I'll be happy to do some further testing.

I only mentioned pagan festivals as there are 8 fairly evenly spaced throughout the year which are timed to co-incide with solstices/ equinoxes and other similar solar events, not for any religious connotations.

I just thought it would be an interesting way to choose dates Smile
