Radio button added to header |
|
|
I added a little feature to the site today. There is a little yellow "tune in" button at the top of the page next to the radio link. If a stream is playing on the main shoutcast server, it will appear. If not, it goes away automatically even if you don't reload the page. It checks the stream server status every 30 secs. It uses AJAX technology. It took me a while to figure out how to do it. Hope you find it useful.
We haven't been streaming much in the last few months, but I'd like to have the streaming radio going all the time.
Any feedback about this button or streaming radio from our site is much appreciated in advance. _________________ --Howard

Yes, apparently the server was rebooted. It's on an OSX server and we have yet to figure out how to get a shell program to start at boot time. I think elektro80 will figure it out though.
I'm going to be working on the streaming software and putting together the schedule for the NYE party today. _________________ --Howard

I received a short message from someone who said he is having trouble using IE since the Tune In button was added.
Does anyone else have a problem using IE. I'm using it now and I can't reproduce it.
Thanks. _________________ --Howard

I have also recently (last day or so) had IE issues on the site. Sometimes a page load will abort (never had that before!). The error message says that the page could not be loaded properly and then aborts the load. |

Thanks. It's the "sometimes" aspect of this that is difficult. I'm going to use IE until I sort this out. _________________ --Howard

I read the code over many times and made one tiny adjustment. Been running IE for some time and don't see the problem any more but one never knows with these kinds of problems. Please keep me posted. _________________ --Howard

My observations here of IE's bahavior shows improvement, or at least no recurrence of the earlier seen problems.
Edit: Spoke too soon...Just had a post go into the ether witha page busy failure. |

I had a similar problem this morning on IE using the unread post link to this topic
http://electro-music.com/forum/topic-22391.html
The topic works fine as a regular link.
Edit:Also had the error on the auto redirect to this post. |

I just accidentally clicked "Tune in" instead of "Forum", and have been listening to "ode to gggg" for 20 minutes. Nice! What can we anticipate from this stream in the future?

My radio button is back, but I've starting to get an error which dumps me out of IE. If I return to EM it's fine, it just happens when I first start IE by clicking on an e-mail link. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

I've spent hours on this. I won't give up but I can say with confidence that IE really isn't as good as Firefox. Even Safari on my iphone works better. Microsoft has really written a bad piece of software. _________________ --Howard

When the stream stops (winamp says it got 0% buffered) and I then press CTRL+F5 in IE it will crash without saying a word and it has to be restarted. _________________ Jan
