Hi everyone,I have had an A6 for a year and everything was going great until one day I switched it on to find a penny sized LCD burn (dead Pixels) in the far right of the display.
Whilst this thankfully does not interfere with seeing any of the important display content for any A6 page it is annoying and a a worry that the whole LCD may well bite the bullet.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and is it possible to get the LCD fixed or something.
thanks any help.
Cheers,
Sneakyalien.

never had a problem like that, however changing a lcd isn't the most costly affair luckily.

If I'm not mistaken, the LCD really cannot be repaired. Once it has experienced a failure of this type, there is no recovery. The LCD itself will have to be replaced with a new unit.

P.S.
I had a quote from alesis/Numark for 310 pounds for an lcd replacement which seems a bit costly for an LCD.
Does anyone know if the LCD is an off the shelp component or do I have to pay what is an extortionate ammount to Alesis?

It's possible that the LCD itself isn't dead, but might just have loose contact.

If you feel comfortable opening up your Andy, you might want to try
simply removing and re-seating the LCD. There's an article elsewhere on this forum (by edobedo, I believe) on how to open your Andy.

Note: I've not done this (I don't even have an A6 yet), but many LCDs sit on a pair of rubber strips with conductive material, and if the unit is old or has been exposed to humidity or something, the contact can become oxidized, and simply re-seating the LCD may fix it.

Edobedo, maybe you can tell us, since you've been inside your Andy -- is the LCD in any sort of socket or removable in any way? If so, maybe simply removing it and re-inserting it will fix this.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out...

Russ
