Looking at the schematics of the Eminent 310, the string ensemble comes in stereo. How can I achieve this in your project ?
I know there are 3 outputs, but how should they be connected, so the outpit will be in stereo ?
Greetings

Ooops, I've almost missed this. If you start a new thread instead of replying in an existing one, I don't get an automatic notification mail.

The way I got the best stereo effect is described on my Triple Chorus page:
http://www.jhaible.heim.at/triple_chorus/triple_chorus.html

Stereo effect using individual outputs (390 kB mp3)
http://www.jhaible.heim.at/triple_chorus/jh_string_ensemble_demo_stereo_r8b.mp3
Yes, we can do Stereo, with the individual outputs.
My first thought was to take the 3 individual outputs and mix them, one panned left, one center, and one right. But then the "Ensemble" effect falls apart, and the modulation sounds overly strong. I think you can do a lot of experiments with mixing the individual outputs, and will find interesting configurations.
The above sound sample was made with a very simple setup, however:
The full mix (main output) goes to one channel, and one individual channel goes to the other. The two channels are then panned almost (but not totally) left and right on the mixing desk.

How is it done in the Eminent ?

JH.

Awhile ago I nabbed a copy of the Eminent 310 service manual off the 'Net for interest sake.... I can forward if you like (3.7MB), but as I can't recall where I got it, I'm iffy on simply posting it....

I'm not the most technical observer, but the secret of the "Orbitone" seems to be six interconnected delay lines, and a combination of chorus and tremolo circuits each utilizing a LPF followed by a phase shift and phase inversion (I'm cheating - these are the sections as Eminent labelled them!). The six modulators seem to be interconnected in wild and crazy ways....

The Eminent does have a very unique shimmering (almost sizzling?) quality, but I'm not sure how much that has to do with the generation and filtering versus the "Orbitone"....

Hello,
I've studied the schematics a bit closer and it seems that in the Eminent the 3 delay stages are connected as followed :
- The output of each delay stage is connected to a different amp
- The mix output (to the headphone jack) is as first described by JH i.e. 1 goes to left, 3 goes to right, 2 is connected to left and right.
- Each output of a delay circuit is mixed with the output of another stage
this means : DL1 out (to amp) is mixed with out DL3
DL2 out (to amp) is mixed with out DL1
DL3 out (to amp) is mixed with out DL2
You can see this on the schematic page 17
The orbitone is solely used for the other organ sounds
It seems that the modulator and signal path is the same for the Eminent and for the Solina
When I've finished assembling this kit I wonder if this way to connect the circuit will give satisfactory results
I will let you know ...
Greetings,
Frank

Thanks for all the information. I'll take a closer look at this, too, as soon as I find the time.
