I've noticed that I get a blank page after logging in, if I haven't enabled my 'referer' from the browser.
This is the first forum where I stumble on this problem.
I can deal with it, but I wonder about the usefullness of this.

It sends information about the IP-number of the sender, the OS-version and the browser-type.
If blocked, the forum is still able to trace my IP, and the rest is non-relevant info most of the time.
Now, I have to switch my firewall, every time I want to visit the forum.

Ah, thank you for reporting, I've heard more complaints like this but those were too vague to "make chocolate out of it" ... will bring it to Howard's attention.

Someone reported by email that cookie removal helps for a while ... this might be easier than changing fire wall settings.

No, any cookie handling, cache or history removal doesn't help. Tested all.
Btw Howard already knows about this.

I didn't know about the referrer part. I'm not all that familiar with that. How do you set that on your end. Is it a browser or firewall setting?

We do block certain ip addresses we know to be spammers. Maybe there is some side effect of this we aren't aware of.

Anybody know if there is an Apache config setting that deals with this?

It's a firewall setting to block the destination URL from retrieving this information from the visitor.
